Welcome! We know that every therapeutic school is different. What we strive for with our home school districts and the students and their families we serve is to provide the most innovative therapeutic school in the country. We do that by making sure that contact with parents is continuous, thoughtful, purposeful and sustained. We have our students for six hours a day and we are invested in knowing how things are going in the other eighteen hours of the day as well. With small class sizes, the latest technologies, and access to our therapists daily, we make sure that the access students have to their academic and social emotional needs is always met with love, compassion, and excellence.

Innovations Academy Therapeutic Day School provides educational and therapeutic services to students with Special Education eligibilities at our campus in Streamwood, Illinois. We accept boys and girls, ages 5 – 18 who are in grades K – 12 with the following:

  • Emotional Disabilities
  • Intellectual Disabilities
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Specific Learning Disabilities
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Other Health Impairment
  • Multiple Disabilities

In order to best serve our students, we provide separate programming for grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 (middle school), and high school. 

Innovations Academy provides year-round services including a comprehensive Extended School Year (ESY) curriculum during the summer months.

Our licensed, multi-disciplinary learning team is comprised of Special Education (LBS1) and Special Subject Teachers (Art, Music and Physical Education), School Therapists, Vocational and Clinical Coordinators, Art Therapist, Music Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Para-Professionals.

Medical services are available as needed and are provided by a Registered Nurse in consultation with student families and medical providers. Our students enjoy the full school experience of education, social activity, sports, and guidance. The Innovations Academy Therapeutic Day School programs are approved by the Illinois State Board of Education. Situated on a beautiful campus, we are unique in that in addition to Innovations Academy, we have a full mental health hospital, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and a partial hospitalization program (PHP).
